John Kim

John Kim is a PhD student at the OrganoVIR Labs. He earned a bachelor’s degree on molecular and cell biology at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). He also completed his master’s thesis on the effects of burn-pit borne pollutants on lung inflammation at the Doherty Lab in the Division of Rheumatology, Allergy & Immunology at the UCSD School of Medicine.

John’s project is a result of the collaboration between Dr. Vanessa Harris (Amsterdam Institute for Global Health and Development (AIGHD)), Dr. Katja Wolthers (OrganoVIR Labs), as well as Dr. Meghan Baldridge (Washington University School of Medicine)  and Dr. Sasirekha Ramani (Baylor College of Medicine). During his PhD, John will be delving into the molecular mechanisms behind the interference due to enterovirus infection on oral rotavirus vaccine seroconversion using human intestinal organoids.
